Community Animal Hospital in Morris County Treats Diabetes, Hypothyroidism & Other Pet Hormonal Disorders

Community Animal Hospital Treats Diabetes, Hypothyroidism & Other Pet Hormonal Disorders

Endocrinology is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders affecting areas such as hormone production, growth, metabolism, and reproduction. This specialty involves diagnostic evaluation of a variety of symptoms, treatment, and sometimes long-term management of a hormonal disorder. Some of the more common diseases treated in this specialty include:

  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Cushing's disease
  • Addison's disease

Community Animal Hospital uses laboratory testing, primarily blood work, in the initial diagnostic process. Additionally, we may incorporate diagnostic imaging of certain organs for further findings.

Some endocrine disorders, such as reproductive issues, may be addressed initially, with treatment discontinued after a limited period of time. However, most endocrine disorders are chronic, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism. If this is the case for your pet, we will vigorously address the disease and, once controlled, create a long-term treatment plan for lifetime maintenance.

If your pet develops endocrine issues, we will provide you with complete information and answer all of your questions. The professional team at Community Animal Hospital offers support and guidance throughout the course of your pet's treatment, so you may make educated decisions about your animal's care plan.

“My rabbit‚ Roscoe‚ has been seen by Community Animal Hospital for the past nine years. Whether it is a routine visit or emergency‚ the staff is always responsive and helpful.
